YBNL boss and Empire Music signee, Olamide Adedeji aka Baddo has opened up on why he regularly collaborates with upcoming artistes.
One will expect an artiste of Olamide’s calibre to feature fellow top artistes on his albums, but asides from his label acts and friends, Reminisce and Phyno, Olamide’s albums over the years are always filled with upcoming acts.
The same thing happened on his most recent project, ‘Carpe Diem‘, asides Phyno, and maybe Peruzzi, all other featured artistes were upcoming acts who are undoubtedly talented.
Fellow label mate, Fireboy DML was featured on ‘Plenty‘, Omah Lay was featured on ‘Infinity‘, Bella Shmurda was featured on ‘Triumphant‘ and Bad Boy Timz on ‘Loading‘, these featured songs seem to however be fan’s favorites.
In an interview with Okayafrica, Olamide talked about his new album and also opened up on why featuring upcoming artistes has become his thing. When asked if there was “some rationale behind your frequent collaboration with burgeoning talents?” Olamide replied
People didn’t see anything in me back then. I want to see people rise and I believe the younger ones are stronger, smarter and a better version of us. I tend to always work with them to maintain my own sanity. I want to work with art, not age. For me, it’s all about the connection over whatever big nam e.”
Olamide also talked about buzzing 18-year Old
